It’s time for teachers (and everyone else) to begin shopping for the 2020 Holiday season. It’s also time for holiday parties, cleaning the house, decorating the house, baking cookies, holiday dinners, and honestly the list goes on and on. Needless to say, you will do all of this while teaching everyday. I know how stressful this feels, as I’ve done it for many years. I’m here to remind you – DO NOT STRESS!
Here are the best teacher deals of the 2020 holiday season. Remember, stores may not call them “teacher deals”, it’s our teacher creativity which turns them into deals. Read on to hear my best tips and gift suggestions.
Tip #1 for Finding Teacher Deals for the 2020 Holidays
Make the most of Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2020
Last year, I did most of my shopping online, and I finished early. Guess what happened? I enjoyed the holidays. Did not stress. I did not second guess my gift choices. Planned my budget, ordered my gifts, wrapped and labeled my gifts, set them aside and had a great holiday season! I think I had many of my gifts before I put my tree up! The best part was, I enjoyed putting my tree up. I enjoyed decorating my house. I had time to plan my holiday menus, and I enjoyed my holiday cooking! When it was time for a holiday event, I picked up the appropriate gift bag and walked out the door. I also did not run from my January bills, because I did not over spend!
I am going to do the same thing this year. In fact, I’ve already started. This year, I have found some amazing deals on some unique and fun gifts. Here are my favorites. Spend your time with your family and friends, and get your shopping done online. I have been busy researching the best deals, and coolest gift ideas for you so that you can! These are affiliate links in this post, so if you click on the links I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
Tip #2 for Finding Teacher Deals for the 2020 Holidays
Buy items in bulk and then divide them into multiple gifts to save money.
As you read through my gift ideas, remember that you can always break apart a package with duplicate items. By adding some candy and creative wrapping – the recipient can become recipients. This is a great way to save money, and it will allow you to get more bang for your buck. There are many gifts that I suggest for coworkers, or acquaintances which work perfectly with this idea.
Host and Hostess Gifts on a Budget
I love going to holiday parties, and this time of year there are so many of them. I like having handy hostess gifts to give to people who invite me into their homes. Here are my favorites for this year.
Most people will bring bottles of wine, which are nice. It’s also nice to give a gift that the hostess will remember. Why not wine glass markers? Here is a set which costs less than $7.00 which makes it the first of the teacher deals for the 2020 holidays. The best thing about it is that it will allow the hosts to remember you long after the bottle of wine is gone, and the 2019 holidays are over. This set also includes a stencil (in case the hosts want to decorate their wine glasses), and a cleaning cloth.
Another favorite hostess gift this year for me are these fabulous face masks! In fact, I’ve ordered some for myself. During cold weather I love putting one of these on and taking a hot bath! I’m sure friends will enjoy these as well! While you’re at it toss a bath bomb into the gift bag as well. They are both examples of gifts that you can divide and conquer with. That is why they have both made my Teacher Deals for the 2020 Holiday list. I’m listing them under hostess gifts, but they would both work for coworker gifts as well.
Teacher Coworker Gift Ideas
I like giving my grade level team members small gifts to show how much I value them. People often give one another cookies or candy. Lately, I find myself with way too many cookies and candy this time of year, so I’ve moved away from edible gifts. As a teacher, I always need pens and I like beautiful pens! I don’t want to spoil the specific gift I’ll be giving my team members and administrators this year by posting it online, but here is a gift idea that is somewhat similar.
I buy beautiful pens in bulk to save money and then wrap them individually in pretty gift bags with tissue paper. This set of pens come with individual velvet bags and refills to make dividing them up as gifts even easier! They make great gifts and end up costing very little money. Once again, they are a teacher deal for the 2020 holidays. If you feel the need to make the gift nicer, toss in one of the bath bombs or face masks listed above. Your coworkers will thank you!
Tip #3 For Teacher Deals for the 2020 Holidays
Save money on gifts for others and splurge a bit on your immediate family members.
This sounds like a no brainer, but if you wait until the last minute to go shopping it won’t happen. In fact, I’ve found myself spending way more money on gifts for my boss and coworkers than I planned – simply because I waited until the last minute.
I also find that if I begin shopping early I can find the perfect items for my immediate family members on sale. I can shop around, and truly find the best prices. In the following section some of the prices will be a bit higher because they are suggestions for those you may want to spend more money on this year.
Gift Ideas for Your Mom and Grandma
I won’t spoil the actual gift I’m buying my mom this year. . .I know my mom reads my blog 🙂 That being said, here are a couple of ideas that I think your mother may love! Everyone’s budget is different, but at the end of the day we all splurge a bit when it comes to our mothers and grandmothers. To be honest, I save money on everyone else and then splurge on my immediate family members each year.
Comfy Blankets
The women in my family hate being cold! Myself incuded. Here is a cute blanket that you can wear around the house without tripping over it. It comes in many different colors, and is sure to be a hit with grandma!
My own mother has mentioned wanting a weighted blanket several times already, so I know this will be a popular gift for mothers and grandmothers this year. Be sure and select the weight of the blanket that is appropriate for your mom or grandmom. I believe they recommend about 10% of a person’s actual body weight is the ideal for the weight of the blanket. Here is a 15 pound weighted blanket. Once again, you can buy this one in a variety of colors.
Here is a cute coffee mug that your mom may enjoy. It’s also a bit of a gag gift, which may be a hit depending on the sense of humor of your family members.
My mother and I both love Sparkly gifts. Here is a gorgeous Swarovski bracelet I found, which I wanted to share with my readers as well.
Flower or Fruit of the Month Club
Another idea that has always been a hit for my mom is a subscription to monthly flowers, or fruit, or whatever item your mother really loves. This is a year long gift, and can be a bit pricey. It is, however, usually a favorite.
Another winner is paying for a service you know your mom or grandma will appreciate, like having their house cleaned! Here is a link to Amazon’s new home services offering. As I become older, I actually value gifts like home services more. I personally used Amazon Home Services recently to assemble a new desk I ordered. The people who came to my home were knowledgeable and professional. They worked quickly and did a great job. Amazon does do background checks on the individuals they employ, and that made me feel better using their services.
Gifts for Dad and Grandpa
So my father loves streaming movies and TV shows. The best gifts for my Dad have always been things like this Amazon Fire Stick. In fact, this is the one gift my father always asks for (yes, he now has one in the den, one in the bedroom, and one in foyer!) Don’t worry I’m not buying anymore for him because my mom will kill me if Dad starts watching TV in the garage! If you haven’t shared the joys of streaming with your Dad, I highly recommend this gift.
Lately, I’ve been adding channels to my Dad’s subscription. He loves Brit Box! You can use this link to add channels to existing Prime accounts. If you don’t have a prime account, they make great gifts too, and you can I also found this man can. Even older men like my father enjoy fun soaps, etc. from time to time. A fun fact about my Dad is that he is always asking me to pick up body wash for him. I think he’ll like this (don’t worry, other than streaming movies – my Dad does not does nothing techie, and NEVER reads my blog). The Amazon Firestick is the only techie thing about him.
I found this cute gag gift, which depending on your father or grandpa may be viewed with a lot of humor. I would recommend this mainly as a stocking stuffer, not as the actual gift.
Another nice gift is this beard grooming kit.
Gifts for Your Husband or Boyfriend
I don’t know why my brain always goes a bit blank when thinking of gifts for men. Probably because whether I’m asking my dad, or my boyfriend they always tell me they don’t know what they want for Christmas, or their birthday. Or, they tell me they don’t want anything. Well if you have that problem too never fear! I enlisted the help of my friends to compile a great list of gift ideas for you!
So the one gift men might actually name is a new television set. Here is a great smart TV at a great price.
Another option is always the Amazon Firestick I listed above, which will turn your existing TV into a smart TV.
I like the look of this customizable whiskey glass set. It’s sure to turn some heads, and is more affordable than a new TV set.
I love this tank top, and I think your husband or boyfriend will love wearing it too! This shirt comes in a variety of colors and sizes, so you can pick out one that suits your man the best.
If your guy is handy around the house (or you’d like him to be) this wrist band is another great gift idea.
For the athletic type this watch is a great gift with a low price. It’s also a way to encourage your loved one to be more healthy.
For the creative type, I found this link to 3D printers. They are becoming more and more mainstream and there are a lot of fun things you can make with them.
Stocking Stuffers
So I’m big on stocking stuffers for my family. I always buy one large gift for everyone, and then I like to have a few smaller gifts. Here are some of my Teacher Deals for the 2020 Holidays on stocking stuffers.
Here is a stylish water bottle, with a section for fruit. I personally use one of these and LOVE it!
This next stocking stuffer is actually one I’d love to have myself (actually, that is how you know it’s a great gift!). This waist belt can hold everything you need for a busy Saturday. You can also use it if you’re a jogger, and it’s perfect for traveling. Actually, it’s just a perfect gift!
These pears make for a cute stocking stuffer for your mom.
This Bluetooth beanie hat is another great idea. It can keep people warm while listening to music.
The Portal is also a nice gift for families that want to see one another more often, despite not being able to see each other everyday. I haven’t used one yet, but I can see why people love them. I put this in stocking stuffers mainly because its more of a family gift. It’s also a bit on the pricey side. There are many different portals and buying options, so if you go with the portal take your time and choose one that fits the need of all the people in your family.
