Teachers and Amazon Prime Day 2020

Amazon Prime Day 2019

Well the first thing I have to say is – what a difference between Amazon Prime Day of last year! So many things in our lives have changed so quickly. This year, like many of you, I have very different goals and priorities. As a result I’m looking for very different things this Prime Day. Here are some of my recommendations for teachers (and anyone trying to save money) this Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon Prime Day 2020

I have spent most of my year working remotely in front of a computer. Teaching is far from sedentary, and as a result I am not burning the same number of calories each day. So, this Prime Day I’m looking for products which will help me move as I work remotely from home. As in year’s past, however, I am also looking for the best possible deals. Happy shopping, and may the deals be with you!

Last year, I do not think I took full advantage of the Amazon Prime Day deals. This year, however, my shopping cart is ready. While the sales will change throughout the 2 day sale, here are some of the items I am eyeing. I wrote this post with teachers in mind for Amazon Prime Day 2020, but really the strategies can apply to many other professions as well. These are affiliate links so if you click on them I may receive a small payment at no extra cost to you.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is October 13th and 14th, 2020. You have to be a Prime subscriber, but don’t worry – if you aren’t you can sign up here to start saving now. I would sign up now, to make sure that you can take full advantage of the Prime Day Sales. As teachers, we are constantly going back to school, so if you happen to be in graduate school right now use your school email address and sign up for Prime Student. With Prime Student you get the same great benefits for half the cost!

What is the Benefit of a Prime Membership?

As a teacher I never have enough time. Prime allows me to have groceries, and many other necessities delivered straight to my front door with no delivery fees! Sundays are a lot less stressful in my house, because I no longer have to visit the grocery store. I also love my free 2 day shipping for just about all of my purchases. I stream music wherever I go for free. Finally, who can resist streaming movies on Amazon prime. I have been a prime member for several years now, and don’t see myself cancelling anytime soon.

What Are The Deals for Prime Day 2020?

If you’re looking at this before Prime Day check out the preview page here.

If you are shopping during Prime Day the first place to start is here. This is the Amazon Prime Live page. All of the current sales are live on this page.

What Are Lightening Deals?

The lightening deals are on the above link. These are the deals that WILL sell out, and will disappear within a set period of time. They also tend to be deeply discounted. I like to be ready for these by following the upcoming sales page. If you see a product that you know you’d like to buy when it goes on sale, simply click the button that says “watch this deal” and Amazon will notify you when it is on sale. Then, you have to act quickly : )

The live sales will change throughout both days of this sale. I am recommending this treadmill which holds a laptop. I am always on my laptop now. I’m not going to walk on it while I’m teaching. I will, however, use it while lesson planning, loading up my Google Classroom, and emailing families. So much of my teaching life lately has been done sitting in a chair. I have got to keep moving, and this will help me do it. Even if this particular laptop treadmill is not on sale, I’d recommend another purchase similar to it that is.

In terms of clothing, like many of you I am all about comfort now. So, I’ll definitely be taking advantage of 50% savings on the activewear hear! This sale is right on time, as I do need a few new clothing items. I did not do my traditional back to school shopping this year.

In case you are looking for more traditional fashions, they will be up to 50% off on this page. These are fall fashions deeply reduced, to help keep you and your family well dressed. It’s funny, prior to the pandemic I never really bought clothes on Amazon. That has definitely changed.

The sales will continue to change over the next 48 hours. I will continue visiting the Amazon live Deals page during this time. I will definitely check out the furniture deals which will be up to 40% off on this page.

If you are hybrid teaching, or full time face to face you may want to check out Google Cardboard. This is a newer technology that allows your students to have a virtual experience. They’re really pretty cool for virtual field trips, etc. They also come loaded with pre-existing content. It’s definitely a new experience for you and your students.

For my home I am eyeing this Fire TV Recast, which will allow me to send my DVR recorder back to my cable company. This DVR recorder has no monthly fees, and records up to 75 hours of television recordings.

Getting a head start on Christmas?

The best place to begin for holiday ideas is here. There will be many deals added between now and December 31st.

You might like this deal on a new TV set.
