Students will read informational text about Harriet Tubman, the Underground Railroad, and the Abolitionist movement in this lesson. Students will also create their own Harriet Tubman diorama pop-up book as part of this lesson.

Learn about Harriet Tubman, the Underground Railroad and the Abolitionist movement through the activities in this unit. Students will learn about Harriet Tubman’s courage as a conductor for the Underground Railroad, as well as her bravery during the Civil War. This unit also covers Harriet Tubman’s life after the abolition of slavery. Once your students have finished learning, they can create a cute pop up book of Harriet Tubman to display what they have studied. The pop up books are perfect for beautiful bulletin boards.
